One person, one kitchen table, a lot of tweezers.
Custom Nails by Maddie is a one-person, online-only nail art business in Baltimore. No production line, no pre-made trays from a warehouse. Every set that leaves here was shaped, painted, charmed and boxed by the same pair of hands.
It started because salon appointments cost three hours and a small fortune, and because nobody was making the specific, slightly unhinged designs I wanted to wear. Turns out a lot of other people wanted them too.

How a set actually gets made
-
01
Shape and fit
Tips are shaped, filed and fitted before any color goes on. A custom order starts from your ten measurements instead of a stock kit.
-
02
Base and color
Gel base, then color built in thin layers and cured between each one. Chrome and cat-eye pigments get pulled with a magnet while wet.
-
03
Art and charms
Line work by hand with a detail brush. Charms are sculpted in place rather than glued on top, which is why they survive being reworn.
-
04
Seal and box
Two gloss or matte top coats, a final cure, then everything gets laid out in finger order with tabs, glue, a wipe and a sizing strip.
What that means for you
No two sets are identical
Even the same design painted twice has different line work. Yours is yours.
You talk to the artist
Every email, every mockup, every sizing question. There is no support queue.
Small batch, real waits
3–5 business days for gallery sets, 7–10 business days for customs. Those numbers are honest.
Built to be reworn
Charms are sculpted in gel rather than glued on top, so they survive the fifth wear.
